Opportunity for a new leadership challenge
Have you considered mentoring as a way of improving your personal development?
A4enterprise is seeking experienced business people who are willing to spend time helping new businesses to get started.
A4enterprise is the not-for-profit organisation appointed to co-ordinate mentors for those moving from unemployment into self-employment through the New Enterprise Allowance.
Julie Dyer, enterprise manager for A4enterprise Wales, is looking for business people interested in passing on the valuable experience and knowledge they’ve gained to those taking their first steps in self-employment.
She said “As well as the satisfaction of seeing a business grow, mentors can also find the experience personally beneficial. Mentors are matched with an A4e customer according to business interests and then work with them over an eight-week period to develop their business plan and prepare them for becoming self-employed.
“Once they start trading, there’s an on-going role for up to 26 weeks to see them over any first hurdles.”
The New Enterprise Allowance scheme is open to those who have been continuously unemployed for 6 months or more.
Before finding an appropriate business mentor, A4enterprise assesses the business idea to ensure it is viable.
